OAS/GNT Sustainable Heritage Endorsement ProgrammePHOTOVOICE PROMPT #1: THAT’S WE CULTURE
What do you see here? (Addressed to the whole group)
A sign at the entrance of the village informing you of their traditions
Why did you take this photo? (Addressed to the photographer)
It was a nice way to find out what was important to the villagers without speaking to anyone.
What is really happening here? (Addressed to the whole group—alternatively what does the photograph represent?)
We see a billboard featuring Shakespeare mas men, big drum dancers, a windmill, the Parang and other symbols that are sentimental to the people of La Resource.
The Shakespeare mas event originated in that village and is not done anywhere else in the Caribbean.
The sign is located in the cross road, big drum dancing and maroons are usually held in cross roads.
