OAS/GNT Sustainable Heritage Endorsement ProgrammePHOTOVOICE PROMPT #6: Grenada's Future
What do you see here? (Addressed to the whole group)
a flyer with pink and black writing. It is about an art institute
Why did you take this photo? (Addressed to the photographer)
I wasn’t too sure about this picture but I want to portray the fact that Grenadian artists are struggling, we don’t even have our own art institute. The community college can’t cover everything. If we the art student decide to embark on a project like this it would be a good thing. This is the kind of thing I see for the future of Grenada.
What is really happening here? (Addressed to the whole group—alternatively what does the photograph represent?)
In other bigger Caribbean countries like Jamaica they have these kinds of art spaces.
People can learn about us through our art
Parents attitude towards children studying art, becoming artists or creative professionals is changing. Some are more supportive.
We need places to help us to grow as artists even after we leave school though.
