OAS/GNT Sustainable Heritage Endorsement ProgrammePHOTOVOICE PROMPT #5: Lost & Found
What do you see here? (Addressed to the whole group)
Piece of wood. Piece of stump.
A man’s foot.
Coal chisel to chip wood to make it become a drum.
The starting process.
Near end, process of making a drum.
Why did you take this photo? (Addressed to the photographer)
Now, more people are learning to make drums, St. David, St. Mark, here. More people are doing it. The youths are doing it.
What is really happening here? (Addressed to the whole group—alternatively what does the photograph represent?)
This is traditional drum tradition, big drum dancing.
Even though there are factories we know how to make our drums by hand with chisel, cultash.
It is a resurrection and a continuation.
It’s traditional and authentic.
This is locally made Tivoli drum.
We nah change.
