OAS/GNT Sustainable Heritage Endorsement ProgrammePHOTOVOICE PROMPT #3: The Things Tourists Never See
What do you see here? (Addressed to the whole group)
Cocoa pods with cocoa taken out. Dry leaves from cocoa tree, pods picked and taken making kites.
The cocoa guts with the strings left behind.
A manure heap, organic fertilizer
Pods that could be used for design/craft work.
Why did you take this photo? (Addressed to the photographer)
Not a usual sight in Grenada for tourists. They buy the chocolate but not the process. Tourists don’t’ see what’s really our culture.
What is really happening here? (Addressed to the whole group—alternatively what does the photograph represent?)
Natural organic fruits
Raw products, where and how chocolate is made/where it starts
It’s decoration, wine-making, fertilizer, everything within a wider process.
